Kim Kardashian’s latest brain scan uncovers low activity — but what’s really going on behind the headlines?
The reality star and entrepreneur recently revealed that doctors detected unusually low brain activity in the front region of her brain — a finding that immediately sparked concern among fans. The discovery came shortly after Kim shared her earlier diagnosis of a brain aneurysm, leaving many wondering whether the two could be connected. But here’s the surprising part: medical experts say her results might have more to do with stress than with long-term neurological risk.
On the Nov. 27 episode of The Kardashians, Kim, 45, learned from well-known psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Amen that her frontal lobes appeared less active than expected. The doctor explained that this could reflect the toll of chronic stress, particularly from her ongoing effort to pass the notoriously difficult California bar exam. “Scott and I are going to check out our brains today,” Kim said on the show, referring to co-star Scott Disick. “Dr. Amen does these scans to really see what’s going on with your brain health.”
Dr. Amen — who also conducted brain scans for Kim’s sisters Khloé and Kendall Jenner back in 2022 — noted that areas of her scan showed ‘holes,’ a term used to describe regions of low brain activity. He added, “The front part of your brain is less active than it should be. When the frontal lobes slow down, it can make it harder to regulate stress.” That insight struck Kim hard, especially given her ambitious study goals. Her reaction was immediate: “That just can’t be. I’ve got to figure this out — I have things to do this summer.”
But here’s where it gets controversial: despite the alarming terminology, Dr. Amen clarified that Kim’s results don’t suggest an elevated risk of Alzheimer’s or any degenerative condition. In fact, he praised her upbeat mindset, saying, “You’re not stressed, anxious, or depressed — you’re extraordinary in staying positive.” Kim even laughed, replying, “I have a beautiful brain. I’ve heard that before.”
The Aneurysm Link
Just a week earlier, in the Nov. 20 episode, Kim had shared that doctors found a small aneurysm during a full-body scan. “There’s like a little aneurysm,” she told her family. “They said everything looks great, but apparently this has been there for a few years.” According to the UK’s National Health Service, a brain aneurysm occurs when a blood vessel in the brain bulges or swells. Most people don’t realize they have one unless it ruptures — which happens to about 30,000 Americans annually. Brigham and Women’s Hospital estimates that around 1 in 50 people are living with an unruptured aneurysm at any given time.
While the discovery sounds alarming, many such aneurysms remain stable for years without causing any symptoms or requiring surgery. Kim’s doctors reassured her that hers had not changed over time and posed no immediate danger.
Still, fans are left wondering: Could the stress of balancing motherhood, business empires, and law school studies really manifest on a brain scan? Or is this just another example of how modern lifestyles push even the most successful people to their limits?
