The upcoming fight, scheduled for April 5 at London's Olympia, will see Cameron challenge Michaela Kotaskova for the WBO super-welterweight title. It's a bold move by Cameron, who is determined to prove a point.
"We aim for three-minute rounds, and we're confident it will happen," said Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions. The WBO and British Boxing Board of Control are expected to support this change.
Cameron is eager to showcase her skills and make a statement. She told Sky Sports, "I'm thrilled to be boxing back in the UK, but the three-minute rounds have me even more excited. I want to perform at my best."
She continued, "I'm ready for 10 three-minute rounds, and I'm ecstatic. I want to prove that women can handle this format without sacrificing performance. I aim to lead the way for women's boxing."
Cameron's motivation stems from her previous defeat to Katie Taylor, a rare loss on her professional record. She firmly believes that with three-minute rounds, she would have knocked out Taylor.
"Taylor was holding on for dear life with two-minute rounds. With three minutes, I'd have finished her," Cameron asserted. "I've always wanted this change, and I know it will work in my favor."
However, a third fight with Taylor seems unlikely. Bidarian commented, "I wish Katie would agree to a rematch, but I understand her choice. Katie has had an incredible career and should do as she pleases."
