Alyssa Healy's Incredible ODI Farewell: 158 vs India | Australia Women vs India 2026 Highlights (2026)

A Cricket Farewell Fit for a Legend: Alyssa Healy's Sensational Send-off

In a heartwarming display of sportsmanship, outgoing Australian cricket captain Alyssa Healy signed off from One Day International (ODI) cricket with a bang, scoring an incredible 158 runs off just 98 balls against India in Hobart. This remarkable performance set the stage for a dominant 185-run victory, leaving fans in awe.

Healy, who announced her retirement last month, was given a warm send-off by the Indian team, who formed a guard of honour as she walked onto the field on Sunday. It was a touching moment, especially as she was joined by rising star Phoebe Litchfield at the crease for the third and final ODI match against India.

But here's where it gets controversial... Litchfield's stay at the crease was brief, lasting only 20 balls before being caught by Nallapureddy Charani. Georgia Voll then stepped up, and together with Healy, they dominated the innings.

At 35 years old, Healy had a close call early on when Renuka Thakur appealed for an lbw after the ball struck her pads. The umpire remained unmoved, but Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur decided to review the decision. The review showed that the call was umpire's call, and Healy survived.

Healy needed just over half an hour to reach her half-century, which was met with a standing ovation from the Hobart crowd as she raised her bat. Commentators on Fox Cricket, Hannah Darlington and Julia Price, couldn't help but gush about the moment.

"That is a truly special moment," Darlington said. "We've all been fortunate to witness her talent over her 16-year career. She's undoubtedly one of the greats."

But Healy wasn't done yet. She powered through another 13 overs, and with a powerful four, she surpassed the 100-run mark. Price exclaimed, "She's done it! Her eighth century... What a way to finish her career!"

Darlington added, "Not only did she lead the team out for the toss one last time, but she'll walk away from this innings, knowing she gave it her all. This knock has been nothing short of sensational."

Healy's innings finally came to an end when she was clean bowled by Sneh Rana, but not before she reached an incredible 158 runs. After the match, Healy reflected on the beauty and challenges of the game.

"It's incredible how this sport can knock you down time and time again, yet offer these incredible opportunities like today," Healy shared. "I've always dreaded milestone matches, but today was different. I wanted to savor every moment, and it was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had."

Healy continued, "I was feeling fine this morning, but seeing Lucy Hamilton make her debut really brought home how special and fortunate I've been over the last 15 years. To have had the opportunity to represent Australia as often as I have is a privilege."

Beth Mooney also had a stellar performance, scoring an unbeaten 106, and Voll contributed 62 runs. The hosts, Australia, posted an impressive 7-409, their third-highest total in history. India, in response, was bowled out for 224, with 3.5 overs to spare.

Leg-spinner Alana King was the star with the ball, claiming an impressive 4-33. Healy has one more game left before she hangs up her boots for good, with a one-off Test match set to take place on Friday.

As we bid farewell to this cricket legend, we can't help but wonder: What's your take on Healy's remarkable career and this sensational send-off? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
